Robinson Cruise and A Very Modest Proposal

At the last lesson we watched Robinson Cruise made by 1997. There are a lot of versions of this story although.

In the movie there was love, but later we learned there is no love in the original story. Also Friday doesn’t die at the end. It is a movie, and it is normal there are some adaptations. However at least Robinson Cruise came together with his love, then became happy.

After that we read A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift. It is very interesting work. He talks about eating poor children, salting, and selling them to the rich people for the sake of country. He has another option. He says we can use the older children’s skins to make gloves or something useful. Of course they are all jokes to mock with the goverment. But it shows us the importance of the situation.

There are still poor people in the world. We can not use these things to the children, but seriously something good must be done this problem of the world.

18th Century

Today we looked at 18th century. There were a lot of information, and I am a little bit of confused.

As I understand, in these years there were peace, and prosperity for the people, except poor people of course. Poor people had never lived in a good way from the beginning of the history.

We saw the Industrial Revolution, and its effects to the world. The good became cheap, and reachable. However the ones who took avdantage of this time were the upper class people again. Child workers, unfair working conditions were there.

The most interesting thing today was Coffee Houses. They are the places where the people come, drink coffee or tea, and read books. It is like the `K─▒raathane┬┤ in our culture.

Except from all of that, we talked about the exam which we will have. It will last three hours, and it seems it will be so hard. Wr expect it will be easy for us.
