I watched Dead Poets Society. It is a good movie for its time period. It mentions about the wrong, and punishment based education. The parents, and the teachers take the students under the pressure. They don’t have right to say what they want from the life.
Then, a new literature teacher comes to the school. He changes their lives. He doesn’t see the poetry as a mass of mechanical written stuff. He fells the emotions in the poems.
The most interesting thing for me is the description of ”Carpe Diem”. The idea is interpreted very differently. In the movie, seizing the day is the reason for the life is short. That is a very original point of view.
The only thing I didn’t like in the movie is the end of it. Despite the all efforts, nothing has changed for the students. They still need to work hard, and the teacher went away.
Except from all these things, I think the movie reflects the soul of literature, and it is worth to see.
